Nordic Rheology Conference 2011The 20th Nordic Rheology Conference was held at the University of Helsinki on June 8-10, 2011, and gathered more than 100 participants. It is worth noting that half of the participants was from countries outside Scandinavia. Helsinki is the capital and largest city in Finland with a population of more than 580 000. The city is in the southern part of Finland by the Baltic Sea, some 400 kilometers east of Stockholm, Sweden, 300 kilometers west of St. Petersburg, Russia and 80 kilometers north of Tallinn, Estonia. Helsinki is well connected to major cities in Europe by air and can also be reached by daily ferries to Stockholm and Tallinn as well as by train to St. Petersburg.
The special theme for NRC2011 was "Polymer solutions, suspensions and melts".
The program included three distinguished invited speakers
There was be a mixture of plenary lectures by the invited lecturers and contributions from NRC delegates. The lectures started Thursday 9th and the topics covered all aspects of rheology, both theory and application, with the plenary lectures representing the special topic. There was also a poster presentation and an exhibition by leading rheology companies.
